Terms and conditions

What GlassDrive is

GlassDrive operates an independent consultancy that searches a panel of UK temporary motor cover underwriters on your behalf. We are not an insurer. The certificate of motor insurance you receive is issued by the underwriter, and your contract of insurance is with them, not with us.

By using glass-drive.com you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Eligibility

To use GlassDrive you must:

  • Be 17 or over.
  • Hold a valid UK driving licence (provisional accepted for learner-cover products).
  • Be resident in the UK.
  • Have permission to drive the vehicle you're insuring.
  • Not be subject to any sanctions or restrictions that would make it unlawful for us to do business with you.

Some products on the panel apply tighter eligibility (age range, licence-held duration, vehicle value, convictions). We only show you quotes from underwriters who will actually write your cover.

Honesty in quotes

You must answer every quote question honestly and accurately. Insurance is priced on the disclosed risk; non-disclosure or misrepresentation can void your policy retroactively — meaning a claim is refused and any payouts can be recovered. The information you supply is shared with the underwriter on the policy schedule.

What we charge

Our consultancy fee is included in the total price you see at checkout. You pay one transparent figure; the underwriter receives their premium and we receive our fee. We do not receive commission that varies by which underwriter on the panel ends up writing your policy.

Payment

Payment is taken at the point of purchase via card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, or GoCardless (Direct Debit, for monthly products). We use PCI-compliant providers and never see or store your full card number.

Cancellation and refunds

  • Temporary policies (hourly / daily / weekly): non-cancellable once the cover start time has passed. If you cancel before the start time, you receive a full refund minus any underwriter admin fee disclosed at checkout.
  • Monthly / annual products: a statutory 14-day cooling-off period applies. You can cancel anytime thereafter on the notice period disclosed in your policy schedule.
  • Mistakes: if you spot an error in your quote before the cover starts, contact us and we'll correct or refund and re-quote.

Our role and its limits

We act as an introducer and consultancy. We do not:

  • Underwrite cover ourselves.
  • Decide whether to pay a claim — that's the underwriter.
  • Hold a duty to give regulated financial advice. Information on the site is general, not personalised advice.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any loss arising from the use of GlassDrive is limited to the consultancy fee you paid us for the policy in question. We are not liable for the underwriter's acts or omissions; your contract of insurance is with them.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or anything that cannot be excluded under UK law.

Intellectual property

The site, branding, content, and code are owned by GlassDrive or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, sell, or scrape the site without written permission.

Complaints

See Complaints for our procedure, including escalation to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute (subject to your consumer rights to bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction within the UK).

Changes

We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be notified to account-holders by email before they take effect.
